How to choose the power cord?

Standard

Different countries have different requirements on power cord standards. Chinese standard plugs are implemented according to GB 2099.1-2008 and GB1002-2008 standards, and accept CCC certification. The plugs are similar to flat triangles; the Australian standard plugs have electrical parameters of 10A and 16A. It is mandatory to accept the CCC mark certification of electrical equipment approved by the China Electrotechnical Commission. European countries have the VED certification of the European Union, the United States needs UL certification, Australia, Japan, Italy and many other countries have relevant product certification requirements, and the plugs that need to be configured are also different.

Specification

There are two-core and three-core power cords, and the wire diameter is also divided into thickness. The specifications and wire thickness are mainly different according to the power of the electrical appliance. For details, please refer to the relevant national standards. The relationship between the cross-sectional area of the conductor of the power cable and the carrying current is as follows:

Wire diameter 3*1.0mm, current carrying reference value 10A;

Wire diameter 3*1.5mm, current carrying reference value 16A;

Wire diameter 3*2.5mm, current carrying reference value 25A;

Wire diameter 3*4.0mm, current carrying reference value 32A;

Wire diameter 3*6.0mm, carrying current reference value 48A.

Color

The color of the power cord is usually mainly black and white, but also blue and red. It mainly depends on the color and scene of the product. From an aesthetic point of view, if your product is white, it should be equipped with a white power cord.

Length

The length of the power cord is determined according to the user’s use. If it is too long or too short, it will be inconvenient for the user during use. Common line lengths are 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m, 5m, etc., and the line length can be customized according to customer needs.

Type of connector

Common connector types include national standard series and IEC international standard series. IEC 60320 is recognized as an international standard used by most countries in the world. “C” stands for the code standard for connectors manufactured by IEC 60320. Different types of connectors are specified for different combinations of current, voltage, and temperature. Of these connector types, C13, C15, and C19 are the most commonly used in data centers. The plugs of the IEC 60320 power cord adopt an even number, and the supporting sockets adopt an odd number. Usually, the entrance of the male appliance is 1 higher than the piece of the corresponding female cable connector. Therefore the most commonly used power cord types are C14 to C13 and C20 to C19. Other common cord types include C14 to C15 and C20 to C15.

This series of power cords has optimal length and different colors, which minimizes the excess length and cord slack between PDU and active equipment, and can easily identify different equipment. A variety of connector types and national standards to meet a variety of application environments.

IEC320 C19 to C20

This series of power cables is mainly suitable for PDU, server, UPS power supply and IT equipment, and also suitable for other equipment with the same interface.
