China’s economy got off to a good start in the first quarter

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released the main situation of the national economy in the first quarter of 2021. According to preliminary calculations, China’s GDP in the first quarter was 24,931 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.3% year on year at comparable prices and 0.6% over the fourth quarter of 2020. That is an increase of 10.3% over the first quarter of 2019 and a two-year average growth of 5.0%.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said the economy got off to a good start in the first quarter, as production demand expanded, market vitality increased, employment and prices remained stable, and people’s livelihood was effectively protected.
